The positions advertised span several directorates and programs with the Canadian Coast Guard and may include the following:
Manager Wellness/Disability Management:
Working within established and emerging Workplace Wellness programs and initiatives the Manager will create a workplace environment that is inclusive, respectful and psychologically healthy. This requires working with all management levels within the Canadian Coast Guard to equip employees with the tools and supports they need to efficiently perform their work and break down stigma around mental health issues. Promoting Health and Wellness through disability management and facilitating rehabilitation and return to meaningful employment for employees who experience injuries or disabling conditions (Mentally or Physically) are also included in responsibilities of this position
Manager Workforce Generation:
Leading a Workforce Generation unit the Manager is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, operational advice and recommendations to advance workforce generation initiatives, process and programs that support management within the Canadian Coast Guard. Examples include development and execution of integrated Human Resource Planning, recruitment and retention, training, employee on boarding, succession planning and workplace wellness. The Manager also provides advice and guidance on applicable legislation, policies and procedures and regulations related to human resource management.
Senior Business Analyst:
The Senior Business Advisor will provide advice and recommendation to Managers on specific initiatives or issues and participate in development, monitoring and implementation of strategic policies. To accomplish this they will be required to analyses and consolidate data from various sources, collaborate with partners or stakeholders in other Government Ministries or Marine Industry in order to develop strategies or plans. Subject matter expertise will be provided to conduct benefit analysis or business process modeling and improvement and to support the development of business cases.
Supervisor Sea Going Personnel:
Working for Fleet Operations, the Supervisor Seagoing Personnel is responsible for leading a team developing Human Resource Plans and strategies for recruitment and retention of seagoing positons including Ships’ Officers and Ship’s crew. Primary focus is ensuring Coast Guard vessels are adequately crewed and certified in accordance with the Canada Shipping Act. Promoting Health and Wellness through disability management and facilitating rehabilitation and return to meaningful employment for employees who experience injuries or disabling conditions (Mentally or Physically) are also included in responsibilities of this position
Safety and Security Compliance Officer:
Officers will conduct safety and security compliance audits related to Canadian Coast Guard’s marine and aircraft fleets as well as shore based facilities to improve safety and security as well as efficiency and effective operations. Responsibilities include development of plans for implementation and application of established safety and security compliance frameworks conducting shipboard and shore-based safety and security compliance audits and recommending corrective measure to deficiencies. Analysis of incident data to identify trends and make recommendations and develop strategies for improving performance through training programs or operating procedures is an important function of this position.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience in preparing written documentation for managers such as briefing notes, memoranda, reports or presentation decks.
Experience in analysing and consolidating data from various sources, developing options, providing strategic advice and recommendations to managers.
Experience in coordinating work place planning activities such as annual unit work plans, or program delivery strategies.
Post-Secondary diploma, degree or any other form of certification from a recognized institution in a field related to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience (For example , financial designation, Human Resource Management, completion of an accident investigation program or a recognized Auditor Training program)
Experience in the management of human resources
(Such as supervision of staff, assignment of duties, training, interpreting collective agreements and performance management.)
Experience coordinating Human Resource Activities for an organization such as, developing plans, recruitment strategies or training plans.
Experience in the management of financial resources.
(Such as budget formulation and expenditure, forecasting, commitment and control.)
Experience in delivery of at least one of the following programs, Occupational Health and Safety; Security; or Emergency Management/Business Continuity Planning.
Experience in leading safety and compliance audits, program evaluation and accident, near miss or operational procedure investigation activities.
Experience in coordination of workplace wellness initiatives.
Experience in management of duty to accommodate, Post-Traumatic Stress counselling or Workers Compensation files.
Experience with business process modeling or business process improvement.
Experience in the development of costing and cost-benefit analysis.
Experience in vessel crewing.
Experience in interpretation and application of Collective Agreements such as Treasury Board Ships Officer and Ships Crew, The Guild etc.
Experience in applying the Canada Shipping Act as it relates to crewing vessels.
Significant* experience with financial management process such as Activity Based Budgeting as well as systems and spreadsheet applications such as Excel or other Salary Management Systems.
Experience in one or more of the following; engaging, consulting, negotiating and working horizontally to achieve program, strategy or project objectives, with groups such as Indigenous communities or peoples, internal departmental programs clients, stakeholders, various levels of Government or special interest groups.
