This position is one of four reporting directly to the President, PacifiCan. Your challenge will be to link PacifiCan’s strategic regional priorities with the overall federal government direction. You will grow your expert knowledge of BC’s evolving social, political and economic landscape. You will create great working relationships between our President’s Office and Minister’s staff, senior PacifiCan officials, central agencies and many others.

Please note: as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working remotely for the time being. If you are appointed to a position, PacifiCan will provide tools and/or equipment to support remote work. As public health restrictions ease, the successful candidate will be expected to report to PacifiCan’s Headquarters location in British Columbia.
PacifiCan offices are open environments with well-regulated air quality, ergonomic sit/stand workstations, and a combination of natural and fluorescent lighting.

Education:
✔️ Candidates with the requisite experience will meet the education requirement of the position (e.g., an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).
Experience:
✔️ Significant* experience in advising and briefing ministers, deputy heads, chief executive officers or chairs of the board.
✔️ Significant* experience with issues management and developing and implementing strategies to respond to complex issues**.
✔️ Experience advancing an organization’s strategic objectives through corporate governance.
✔️ Experience managing human resources.

The following criteria will be assessed using the online screening questions. However, they are assets, so you do not need to meet them to be selected, but preference could be given to those who have them.
Education:
✔️ Formal education in a field related to the position.
Experience:
✔️ Experience with Cabinet briefings.
✔️ Experience working in regional or community economic development, or in promoting understanding of regional economic interests.
✔️ Experience in corporate or departmental planning, performance measurement, policy, and/or governance.
✔️ Experience working in/with a Federal, Provincial or Municipal governments.
✔️ Experience in developing Memoranda to Cabinet and Treasury Board Submissions.
✔️ Depth, breadth, and scope in any one or combination of the experience factors.
Knowledge:
✔️ Knowledge of issues related to economic growth and development in British Columbia.
✔️ Knowledge of Cabinet committees, Standing Committee functions, Treasury Board processes and PCO functions and responsibilities.
✔️ Knowledge of parliamentary operations and processes, including the functioning and processes related to Cabinet committees, budgetary approval processes and cycles.
✔️ A large and mature professional network of contacts in federal government departments and central agencies, in Government of British Columbia and/or in the private sector.
