Duties

Key Activities

• Coordinates and organizes the retrieval, editing, validation, marketing and dissemination of data.
• Provides custom tabulations and time-series information for ad-hoc client requests.
• Recommends improvements to statistical methods and procedures and implements changes to processing systems and applications to manipulate, store and retrieve statistical data.
• Provides subject matter advice and direction to users on matters relating to subject-matter concepts.
• Participates as a subject area representative on various teams and working groups.
• Leads work groups established to coordinate and implement program activities.

Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to establish pools of qualified candidates which may be used to staff (immediate or anticipatory) positions of various tenures, with various linguistic profiles in various locations, based on operational needs.

Our immediate need is to staff two (2) positions in the Western Region (Edmonton, Winnipeg or Vancouver), and four (4) positions in the Central Region (Ottawa, Toronto). To ensure you are considered for the immediate vacancies, please submit your application by February 7, 2022.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in social sciences*, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

* Social science includes: economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, demography/population studies, history, psychology, geography, criminology, and other disciplines associated with social science such as (but not limited to) finance, accounting, commerce, business administration, agriculture, environment sciences, data science/data analytics, education, epidemiology or health.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

Recent* and significant** experience using statistical software (SAS, STATA, SQL, CAPSS, Python, R) to retrieve or manipulate large scale data sets.

Recent* and significant** experience with data processing or data integration

Significant** experience in data quality assurance or quality control processes.

Significant** experience providing statistical information to clients.

*Recent experience is normally defined as experience obtained in the last three years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for a minimum of two years
