Duties

As Regional Maintenance specialist, you will be responsible for co-ordinating maintenance activities of various Correctional facilities at the regional level, including the following:
• oversight and management of the Computerized Maintenance Management System,
• developing standardized work orders,
• generating performance and productivity reports,
• providing technical advice to maintenance personnel,
• developing statement of work and monitoring maintenance contracts,
• coordinating delivery of safety programs and safety training, and
• analyzing and solving maintenance issues.

The work requires a high degree of autonomy.

The work is normally performed in an office environment at the CSC's Regional Headquarters located in Abbotsford, BC. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to visit various federal correctional facilities in the region to:
o investigate technical issues,
o attend meetings with stakeholders and staff,
o monitor ongoing projects, and
o monitor and audit CMMS system.

The incumbent is also required to manage a vehicle fleet consisting of 20 vehicles, including delivering them for service at local dealerships or carrying out minor maintenance such as jump starting and topping up fluids.

Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Recent and significant* experience providing facilities maintenance services in an institutional setting (example: prison, hospital, school, etc).

Experience providing advice and guidance to management to facilitate planning, managing and leading facilities management projects.

Minimum 1 year experience planning, managing and leading facilities maintenance projects and providing advice to management

*Recent and significant is defined as 3 years in the last 5 years.

A journeyman trades certification in a Red Seal electro-mechanical trade, such as Electrician Industrial/Construction, Plumber, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic, or Instrument and Control Technician, approved by the Industrial Training Authority of BC* or any other Canadian provincial trades training authority. *https://www.itabc.ca/

Degree equivalency

Significant experience* managing a facility** maintenance program. This includes experience in a facilities management position, such as maintenance co-ordinator/supervisor, facilities manager, maintenance engineer, facilities engineer, maintenance foreman/superintendent, or other duties relevant to the position.

* "Significant experience" refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties for a period of three (3) years.

**'Facility' includes building (property management), municipal or industrial facilities.

Experience*** implementing or maintaining a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) ****.

***'Experience' refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties for a period of approximately one (1) year.

**** CMMS include working with platforms such as MAXIMO, SAP or enterprise level platforms in the capacity of maintenance planner, shutdown planner or such other jobs relevant to the position.
