To coordinate, plan and perform equipment testing and evaluation of hydrometric instrumentation used or considered for use in the Water Survey of Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada’s national hydrometric monitoring program. Maintains testing equipment and testing apparatus for hydroacoustic tow tank testing including file management of calibration and/or validation certificates at the National Equipment Distribution Center. Other key duties include:
• Sourcing, purchasing, shipping, and managing inventory of specialized hydrometric equipment and supplies for NHS
• Carrying out administrative tasks related to the renewal of specialty licenses, permits and rentals, and payment of reoccurring bills
• Consulting with instrument suppliers, manufacturers and other technical experts to troubleshoot equipment and provide support on specialized hydrometric equipment.
• Designing, fabricating, assembling and/or installing unique mounting systems
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and could also be used to staff similar positions, with various tenures, and/or various security requirements.

Education:
ED1: Successful completion of a minimum of two-years of post-secondary diploma or degree in an environmental science, physical science, engineering technology, civil engineering or other discipline relevant to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in industrial instrumentation and/or environmental instrumentation
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience in acquiring, testing and evaluating environmental or industrial monitoring equipment or instrumentation.
EX2: Experience in researching and consulting with colleagues, suppliers or others to discover information and facts needed to resolve technical problems, provide advice and develop recommendations.
EX3: Experience in writing and reviewing technical documents.
EX4: Experience in working in a laboratory or field environment

AEX1: Experience in participating in administrative and financial duties associated with inventory management systems, procurement and contracting processes.
AEX2: Experience writing computer code or script files for automating processes related to acquiring or analyzing data.
AEX3: Experience using basic carpentry skills to construct instrument testing apparatus and shipping containers.
AEX4: Experience in the safe operation of lift trucks to transport equipment and supplies
AEX5: Experience working with Quality Assurance and Quality Control or a Quality Management System
AEX6: Experience in developing and maintaining databases, records or reference systems to support inventory management systems and/or software.

Reliability Status security clearance
COE1: Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
COE2: Willingness and ability to travel.
COE3: Exposure to adverse working conditions associated with field work, laboratory operations, and warehouse management.
COE4: Employment medical prior to appointment.
COE5: Ability to lift 20 kg object from ground height, carry it 30m and deposit it at desk/work bench/tail gate height in less than 90 seconds (including any required rests). Candidates will be tested to determine that they meet this condition.
