Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) is looking for candidates who want to take on new challenges, expand their knowledge and develop new research practices.

We need Scientists who have the ability to understand the scientific method, and who have conducted research and analysis. We are looking for new professionals in various scientific domains to join our team within our seven research centres across Canada. Each of the centres have a unique combination of expertise and facilities to carry out world-class science and technology research : engineering, defence and security, biology, health, psychology, applied mathematics, mechanical Physics, computer Sciences, physical sciences, electro-optical, technologies, chemistry, social sciences, physics, analytics and more.

In Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), we provide advice and expertise to the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Armed Forces and other federal departments. We also work with partners in academia, government, scientific industry and with Canada’s allies for safety and security.

NOTE ON SALARY:
Defence Scientists (DS) are career managed within a person-oriented system. Level and salary are based on the assessment of the current state of professional development of the individual in accordance with the DS Pay Plan. On initial appointment, the successful candidate will be appointed to the DS group at a level and salary commensurate with their assessed current state of professional development in accordance with the DS Pay Plan (therefore not automatically at the DS 03/04 level as advertised). Once appointed to this group, promotions and salary progression during the career are based on performance as described in the DS Pay Plan.

Intent of the process

The objective of this process is to establish shortlist(s) of candidates that will be used to fill current and anticipatory needs in various areas of expertise with different security profiles, linguistic profiles and tenures within DND.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

ED1: Graduation* with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, economics, sociology, psychology, social sciences, operational research, mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, physical sciences or some other specialty relevant to the position coupled with acceptable experience.

*Candidates currently completing a Master's degree will be considered. They must demonstrate they are able to complete all the requirements of their current studies program to obtain their Master's degree by 31 July 2023.

Note: Applicants will be required to provide proof of education during the assessment stage. Original diplomas or certified transcripts may be required and must be provided, if applicable. Failure to submit the required documents will result in the rejection of your application.
