A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CREWING ASSISTANT (CR-04):

As a Crewing Assistant you work in an office environment in a team of approx. 10 staff to complete daily tasks for our Fleet personnel such as: answering and responding to phone calls from seagoing employees and the general public, updating information into databases, completing required staffing documents for Human Resources, booking travel arrangements for seagoing employees, attending meetings or just lending a hand when or where it is needed as we work together as a team to help one another.

Each day or week is different and are never the same since we are a fast pace operational environment. Priorities can change at any given moment but these changes challenge us in a way that is very rewarding.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MARITIME KEEPER (AS-01):

Together as a team of about a dozen people, we, the MariTime Timekeepers, manage the leave, overtime and pay entitlements for seagoing personnel. The seagoing personnel communicate to us in timesheets; both paper and electronic formats. When timesheets are received, we must analyze and enter the information accurately into our database systems that ensure our seagoing employees receive their pay and entitlements.

Our job is much more than data entry! Our seagoing personnel is comprised of Ships’ Crew and Ships’ Officers, both with their own collective agreements and benefits to which they must abide and to which we must constantly refer. Sometimes we receive complex timesheets that require analytical skills! If you love scrutinizing information and analyzing data in a high-paced environment with ever changing priorities and deadlines, then you have definitely found your calling as a MariTime Timekeeper!
