Duties

Preventive Maintenance Inspectors play a vital role within the Real Property Operations Group at National Defence.

In this role, you will be expected to direct and monitor preventive maintenance inspection schedules for structures, mechanical, electrical, plumbing/steamfitting equipment, roadways and more. You will be providing technical advice and direction to designers, team leaders and other stakeholders on maintenance projects. The ability to input planning and maintenance contracts data into computer databases is also important for your requirement to analyze and communicate requirements to senior management.

The immediate need is to fill one indeterminate position in Petawawa, ON. However, this process may be used to staff the same or similar positions with various tenures, language or security requirements in various DND locations across Canada.

Possession of a Technologist Diploma with acceptable specialization in the electrical, mechanical, civil or structural field
OR
Possession of a valid Red Seal Endorsement in one of the above construction trades
OR
Acceptable combination of education, training or experience

Experience with preventive maintenance requirements or operations maintenance
Experience working with various computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requirement to obtain and maintain DND 404 Driver’s licence.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime and/or be on standby or call back

Conditions of employment

• Must possess a valid unrestricted class “G” driver’s licence issued by the Province of work to be performed.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DND 404 driver’s license.
• Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment used in a construction/maintenance environment
• May be required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and work from heights. Work may include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
• Willingness to travel to undertake training as required.

❗ On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
