🚩On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. 🔬Stream 1: PC-02 - Environmental Management Analyst
🔬Stream 2: PC-03- Environmental Management Advisor

The Office of Environmental Coordination (OEC) is the Departmental lead on environmental management and related policy development and is the lead in developing the Department’s National Environmental Management System (EMS). The OEC provides advice, develops frameworks and tools, and coordinates efforts to comply with the Department’s Environmental Policy Statement, environmental regulations, federal policies and industry standard best management practices. There are three different business lines within the OEC: contaminated sites management, sustainable development and plastics, and environmental compliance. The duties associated with each business line are as follows:

🔬Contaminated Sites Management:
Provides advice and guidance to the Regional Offices of Environmental Coordination, sectors of DFO, management and develops national procedures and tools in support of the management of the Departmental contaminated sites portfolio.

🔬Environmental Compliance:
Provides advice and guidance to the Regional Offices of Environmental Coordination, sectors of DFO, and management on the interpretation and application of environmental legislation, creates national procedures and protocols to help ensure compliance with this legislation, and develops, conducts and/or arranges national training on compliance issues.

🔬Sustainable Development and Plastics:
Provides advice and guidance to the Regional Offices of Environmental Coordination, sectors of DFO, management and develops national procedures, and management frameworks in support of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy and the Greening Government Strategy, including. championing plastic waste reduction across DFO-Coast Guard programs.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff 2 positions in Ottawa, Ontario at this time in the Sustainable Development and Plastics stream. However, a pool of candidates will be created and may also be used to staff similar positions across Canada, with various language requirements, security requirements and tenures (casual, term, and indeterminate).

🎓EDUCATION (ALL STREAMS):
➡Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

🧪EXPERIENCE (STREAM 1):
⤑Minimum one (1) year experience in the coordination and management of a variety of environmental issues, including in one of the following:
»The management of contaminated sites; or
»The conduct of environmental compliance activities, such as audits, compliance promotion and/or the development and implementation of environmental management systems; or
»The development of plans or strategies related to the greening of operations.

🧪EXPERIENCE (STREAM 2):
⤑Recent and significant* experience in the coordination and management of a variety of environmental issues, including in one of the following:
»The management of contaminated sites; or
»The conduct of environmental compliance activities, such as audits, compliance promotion and/or the development and implementation of environmental management systems; or
»The development of plans or strategies related to the greening of operations.

*Recent and significant experience is defined as 3 years of cumulative experience over the past 10 year period.

🧪EXPERIENCE (ALL STREAMS):
⤑Experience in developing departmental inventories or data management, including performance reporting.
⤑Experience coordinating the implementation and monitoring of departmental projects and programs.
