Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment or acting) within Transport Canada (TC).

ED : Successful completion of secondary school or employer approved alternative i.e. an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EX1 : *Significant recent experience applying the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) relating to train movements, in techniques and methods for conducting verifications of train operations and in performing technical inspections of railway train operations.

*Significant recent experience is defined as 3 years continuous experience within the past 5 years

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

AEX1 : Experience as a Conductor or locomotive engineer qualified by a Canadian Railway .
AEX2 : Experience as a rail traffic controller, or in an operations centre for a Canadian Railway.
AEX3 : Experience in a railway supervisory role for the railway within the transportation department or in the Operations Centre.
AEX4 : Experience in investigative and enforcement techniques and procedures.
AEX5 : Experience administering the Canada Labour Code Part II.
AEX6 : Experience in risk evaluation and trend analysis.
AEX7 : Experience in the railway industry with respect to planning, coordinating and administering programs.

Ability and willingness to work in adverse environments and weather conditions.

ASSESSMENT - GENERAL INFORMATION
Random selection, invoking asset qualifications may be used in conjunction with other volume management strategies that can be applied at any stage in the staffing process.

Reference checks may be sought.

An interview may be administered.

A test may be administered.

ASSESSMENT – RESCHEDULING
Rescheduling will only be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation will be required at the time of your request to be rescheduled.

Possible reasons for alternate assessment dates:
· Medical reason with doctor's certificate;
· Death in the immediate family;
· Professional obligation (proof required);
· Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans; or
· Religious reasons.

EDUCATION
Candidates may be required to provide proof of education as part of this selection process.
