Intent of the process

The results of this processus will be used to staff various Administrative Professional opportunities within Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard. Opportunities may include roles such as Administrative Coordinators, Administrative Officers and Analysts, Business and Planning Officers/Analysts and Administrative Team Leaders. Our intention is to create a partially or fully qualified list of candidates for opportunities, within our region, which may be either temporary or permanent.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program (Certificate or Diploma) in Office Administration, Business Administration another specialty relevant to these positions
OR
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience providing client service or customer service (e.g. general public or internal/external clients.)

Experience gathering and evaluating information from various sources and providing guidance or recommendations to employees, clients or leaders applicable to their unique needs.

Experience preparing various types of formal material for a manager or a team such as briefing material, presentations, written reports or summary notes.

In addition to the three (3) essential qualifications above, supervisory opportunities also require:

Experience providing leadership to projects, committees, employees or teams which should include providing coaching, assigning and monitoring work, providing meaningful feedback and mobilizing people toward accomplishing established tasks or goals.

Experience managing financial information in an electronic Financial Management System (e.g. SAP, SAGE, ABACUS, MRS, etc.).

Experience providing financial support services to a manager or a team including tracking budget and expenses; coordinating invoices and contracts; monitoring, analyzing, reporting and forecasting budgets.

Experience coordinating or liaising between the office of managers, directors, other government departments, or internal/external stakeholders or communities.

Experience in validating or reconciling information in HR Software Systems (e.g. Peoplesoft, Nakisa, MariTime, National Training Tracking Tool (NTTT), Iprivileges or OrgPlus).

Experience developing or implementing procedures, policies or programs.

Experience using spreadsheet software, such as Excel or Google Sheets, to prepare reports and manipulate data using pivot tables, formulas or graphs

Experience planning, coordinating or organizing Virtual and/or In-Person events (e.g. training sessions, meetings, seminars, awards and/or recognition events, etc.).

Experience providing interpretation or procedural guidance on Federal Government Legislation, Policies and Procedures such as the Financial Administration Act; Treasury Board Contracting and Procurement policies; National Joint Council Travel Directive, etc.

Reliability or Secret Status security clearance, depending on the position being filled.
Requirement to, occasionally, work overtime.

Information on employment equity

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site.
