As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Duties

The positions will involve ON-SITE laboratory research and entails assisting technical staff with preparation and harvesting of annual and perennial field plots; processing of plant and insect samples collected in agricultural field crops; identification of insect species, recording and entry of data.

Work environment

This is an ON-SITE laboratory research position with occasional outdoor work duties supporting the Pest Management Program located at the Beaverlodge Research Farm. This is a field crop entomology research program.

Hours of Work: 8:00 to 4:30 Monday to Friday (compensated overtime is required)

Intent of the process

We are seeking to fill TWO full-time CASUAL (90-working-day) contracts with start dates of late November 2021 (or as soon as Human Resources documents can be completed).

This process is for casual employment only which is a temporary employment of 90 workings days or less in a calendar year.

• Graduated from an accredited high school.

Degree equivalency

• Possess strong written/oral communication and listening skills.
• Willing to work with other people and/or by themselves.
• Demonstrate computer literacy in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Possess an understanding and/or experience in agriculture and crops grown in the Peace River region.

The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job)

• Possess post-secondary training in any science-related field is an asset.

• Possess and provide valid Class 5 Driver’s License within 7 days of request.
• Willing to work indoors with insect and spider specimens.
• Willing to occasionally work outdoors.
• Willing to work overtime (compensated with time off).
