Assessment accommodation

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Duties

-Processes service requests and provides daily assistance to Canadian Coast Guard College (CCGC) staff and managers ensuring quality and timeliness of services provided.
-Loads, unloads, transports, and sets up equipment, material, and furnishings on College premises.
-Performs minor repairs and maintenance to furnishings, effects, and assets not maintained by DFO Real Property (RP), and provides assistance to skilled tradespersons contracted by RP.
-Carries out the set up and layout of classrooms, office spaces, boardrooms, and laboratories.
-Verifies condition and quantities of goods and assets; administers and ensures the maintenance of a variety of inventories as required; and ensures distribution of goods and assets to clients, in support to the Stores and Services unit.
-Maintains CCGC vehicle fleet to ensure the safety of users.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to create a pool of qualified candidates that may be used to staff similar permanent and temporary positions within the Canadian Coast Guard College.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and /or experience relating to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
*Recent experience in merchandise management such as handling, distribution and storage.
*Recent experience in general labourer services supporting a large scale operation.

*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last two (2) years.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the methods utilized for the distribution, and storage of merchandise.
Knowledge of general power equipment and furniture assembly ie: power/hand tools, power pallet jacks, office equipment assembly/set up etc.

ABILITIES:
Ability to interpret instructions and prioritize work in a multitask environment.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
