The working environment will be hybrid. Work from a remote location may be possible depending on the position to be staffed and following approval by the manager.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff two (2) positions at Indigenous Services Canada in the National Capital Region. Other opportunities across Canada may be added. The intention is to create a CS-03 qualified pool. All applicants will be assessed regardless of their tenure. There is no preference for deployments of internal employees.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION—BOTH STREAMS:

• Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed

Notes:

1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.

3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be reassessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE—BOTH STREAMS:

• Significant* and recent** experience in performing a combination of two or more of the following functions for Infrastructure and Operations services in a complex IM/IT environment***:

- Planning and designing (i.e., gathering and analyzing business requirements, and translating them into technical requirements; developing work estimates and development schedules; contributing to the development of high-level and detailed designs)

- Building and deploying (i.e., installing, configuring, integrating, testing and troubleshooting solutions or services; onboarding clients)

- Operating and maintaining (i.e., fulfilling service requests; planning and implementing changes to services; prioritizing, categorizing, investigating, tracking and resolving incidents)

• Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders in the area of IM/IT.

• Experience in providing advice or recommendations to management, stakeholders, project teams or technical staff regarding the design, procurement, implementation, or operation of IM/IT Infrastructure and Operations services.

DEFINITION:

* Significant experience is defined as an experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of two (2) or more years.

** Recent experience refers to experience acquired within the last five (5) years.

*** Complex IM/IT environment means geographically dispersed OR comprises a mixture of on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure OR provides a multi-tiered architecture environment serving multiple business clients/partners requirement.

EXPERIENCE — STREAM 2 ONLY—Team Leader:

• Experience supervising a team of IT professionals in the delivery of IM/IT solutions, including the planning, coordination and review of the work performed by employees.

• Experience in implementing and/or configuring and/or managing related to cloud operations, DevOps, task automation and processes or network security in a cloud environment (MS Azure, Oracle Cloud, AWS)

• Experience in providing strategic advice in a cloud environment (MS Azure, Oracle Cloud, AWS)

• Experience in implementing and/or configuring and/or managing one or more of the following functions related to DevOPs and IT security processes in a geographically dispersed environment such as:
o Patch management software
o Windows Imaging
o Software License Management (Microsoft) & License Verification
o Active Directory Management, Group Policy Object Management, DFS Management
o Asset Management Reporting
o Software Packaging, Distribution and Reporting
o The use of IT service management tools, principles and processes

• Experience in technical writing/documentation

• Experience in Desktop Management

• Experience in managing, researching, deploying or supporting Audio-Visual and Videoconferencing equipment and services in boardrooms or other strategic locations.

• Experience delivering IM/IT services for regions in Canada's North

Depending on the number of applicants, volume management strategies such as random selection, top-down approach and/or establishing cut-off scores to determine who will continue in the staffing process, may be used for the purpose of managing applications. Please note that although you may attain the established pass mark on any of the assessments used in this staffing process, management may decide to use a higher cut off score.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
