There are a broad range of IT positions within the RCMP with varying roles. Examples include: help desk support, application development of policing tools, IT security, radio communication infrastructure, and IT architecture. The RCMP IM/IT Program is responsible for providing the IT tools, services, and solutions for the law enforcement community to fight crime across Canada and internationally. Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances. Depending on the position being staffed, additional qualifications may be required by the hiring manager. Applicants will be provided with the opportunity to submit information relevant to any additional qualifications that may be applied.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Note: Given the pandemic situation, RCMP, as most organizations are able to benefit from working remotely at this time. However, employees might be required to physically go in the office as some positions are essential and operational.

STREAM 1 - TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
- Application Web Infrastructure Services (Middleware: Web Servers, Location Servers, Application Servers) - maintaining and supporting middleware technologies for application and Web platforms such as SharePoint and Apache;
- Central Help Desk (Help Desk, LAN Administrator) – Supervision of level one technical support teams related to IT software, hardware, or connectivity issues by phone and email for RCMP employees. Development and maintenance of Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) related to application support. Develop support metrics to provide strategic advice and guidance to CHD management for support of new services and applications;
- Cloud Platform Services (O365, SharePoint, Dynamics, PowerApps) – maintains and supports platform services in the cloud;
- Cloud Operations – Service Developer - Cloud administration, automation and integration to provide and maintain cloud infrastructure;
- User Computing Device / Lan Administrator (User hardware/ software: workstations, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals) - imaging, configuring and Integrating devices including peripherals;
- IT Service Management (ITSM)– performs operational and analysis related activities for IT Service Management functions including but not limited to Incident, Problem, Configuration, Knowledge and Change Management for IM/IT service owners and business clients using ITIL and DevOps frameworks. Support for IT Service process improvement activities, report generation, process development and improvements, process data analysis, metrics and communication.

STREAM 2 - SOFTWARE SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT
- Custom Solutions – Developing custom solutions using programming languages such as .Net, Java, Python, COBOL, ABAP, etc.;
- Integration, Maintenance and Support of Commercial of the Shelf (COTS) Solutions – Developing solutions in a DevSecOps environment using software tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Git, Jenkins, Jira etc.;
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) - Developing solutions using CRM products such as MS Dynamics, SalesForce, etc.;
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) - Developing solutions using ERP software such as SAP, PeopleSoft, ABAP, etc.;
- Microsoft Power Platform – Developing solutions using PowerApps, Power Portals, Power Automate and PowerBI;
- Cloud Solutions – Developing Cloud Solutions using SaaS (Dynamics CRM, MS Power Platform suite, SAP, etc.);
- Quality Control – Performing software testing and Quality Assurance for IT Solutions.

STREAM 3 - DATA ENGINEERING / DATA ARCHITECTURE
- Big Data Management - Working in the capacity planning, development, testing, installation, and upgrades of the IBM InfoSphere, Microfocus IDOL and SAP Hana toolsets to manage large repositories of data;
- Data Architecture – A good understanding of an array of technologies, including cloud and its associated service models, to provide central guidance on the structure of an organization’s data assets while ensuring the data is accessible, useful and secure;
- Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things: A good understanding of machine learning (deep learning, supervised, and unsupervised learning) including experience with Python, Java, R, Apache Spark, Hadoop, etc.;
- Data Analytics - Assemble and decipher insights from structured and unstructured data. Will be working with business intelligence tools (Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, SAS, SAP HANA, etc.) and developing key analytical deliverables for large data sets.

STREAM 4 - DATABASE ADMINISTRATION
- Database Administration (Oracle, DB2, MS-SQL, etc.) - The role may include capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.

STREAM 5 - IT SECURITY
- IT Security - investigating suspicious activities and potentially malicious activity within the networks and systems;
- Identity and Access Management - creating, distributing, tracking, recovering, auditing and revoking keys for the Public Key Infrastructure Certificate Authority. This group is also responsible for all RCMP PKI infrastructure and services;
- Infrastructure Support - Active Directory & Group Policy design, RedHat Enterprise Linux deployments including patching/provision solutions, Network design including software defined and spine-leaf technology, Network security including firewalls, load-balancers and end point security, Enterprise Storage design and implementation, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure including desktop optimization.

STREAM 6 - RADIO & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
- Point-to-point - radio coverage testing and analysis;
- Land Mobile - Radio technologies, plan, design, implement and support radio systems;
- Wireless - Antennas, filtering, amplifiers, transceivers, etc.;
- Maintenance and support of radio infrastructure;
- Communication Towers – maintenance and installation of associated equipment.

STREAM 7 - ENTERPRISE / BUSINESS ARCHITECTURE
- Business Architecture - recent experience aligning governance structures, business processes, goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services; partners and suppliers; organization; capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives;
- Enterprise Architecture - recent experience developing IM/IT business strategies, IT processes, architecture models, conducting research, and working in compliance architecture.

In addition, the candidate must have recent experience developing an architecture for one of the following elements:

VACCINATION

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
