Positions are located in federal correctional institutions or in community facilities where CORCAN operates vocational training centers or runs projects. Individuals employed in these areas are responsible for ensuring the completion of products for clients, while directly supervising offenders receiving training in these workplaces and providing them with employment and employability skill development opportunities. All incumbents must agree to work in a federal correctional setting (institutional and community) on a regular basis and have direct interactions with the offenders they are required to supervise. Incumbents also have direct contact with staff within other areas of Correctional Service Canada and government, as well as clients, stakeholders and members of the public. This selection process could be used to create a pool of qualified candidates that could be used to fill similar or identical positions with various profiles and language requirements, various security profiles and various tenures.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the field of textile manufacturing.
Experience using garment making equipment such as a regular or specialized sewing machine.

EDUCATION:
Post secondary education in a field related to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in transferring knowledge and skills to other persons.
Experience working in the repair and maintenance of sewing equipment and machines.
Experience working with offenders in a correctional setting (institutional or community).
Experience in working with groups of clientele with mental health needs, Indigenous peoples/organizations, or Ethno cultural groups.
Experience working as an instructor for groups of women.
Experience working in a garment cutting and sewing shop.
Experience with computerized pattern systems.
Experience in inventory management related to textile products.
Experience in packaging and distribution of orders.
