Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:
In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $22,000 to $36,000 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $1,500 twice a year for you and each eligible dependant.
As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
The successful candidate would be working with a small team responsible for leading the Department’s interventions during reviews of environmental assessment reports for projects pursuant to the Nunavut Agreement (formerly known as the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) and the Nunavut Planning and Project Assessment Act.
We would like to hire a candidate for an indeterminate position located in Iqaluit, NU.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to fill similar or identical positions in the future at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) or other federal departments and agencies located in Nunavut. Please note that the tenure or security requirements may vary.

The following criteria will be assessed using your resume and online screening questions. To ensure that you are selected, you must demonstrate when, where and how you acquired each of the qualifications by giving concrete examples.
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in environmental science, environmental engineering, physics, geology, chemistry, or some other science relevant to the position.
• Experience in writing, or working with, scientific reports.
• Experience working in diverse groups or project teams.

• Experience working in an environmental field.
• Experience with environmental impact assessment processes for development projects.
• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, specifically as it relates to Inuit culture and values.

Organizational need: Preference given to candidates self-identifying as Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Operational requirement: Be willing to travel on small aircraft and to work overtime.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
