As Business Continuity Planning and Emergency Management Officer you will be relied on to provide leadership, advice and vision in the development of the organization’s Business Continuity Planning and Emergency Management (BCP/EM) programs to ensure the protection of employees, information and assets. This will be achieved through the development, implementation and maintenance of tools, policies and BCP/EM practices that effectively plan for and mitigate risks, provide employees with the appropriate level of awareness and training and that allow the organization to successfully respond to and recover from emergency-related incidents. Achieving this important mandate also involves working closely with lead security agencies and government departments, first responders and other partners and stakeholders within and outside the department.
The initial intent of this process is to offer one indeterminate position at the Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC level.
A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process may be created and may be used to fill similar positions with bilingual imperative CBC/CBC linguistic profiles as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, assignment, secondment, specified period) which may vary according to the position being staffed.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
- Experience providing advice and guidance with regards to emergency management (building emergency and evacuation);
- Experience in the development or implementation of a Business Continuity Planning program;
- Experience providing awareness and training sessions to employees.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Directive on Departmental Security Management;
- Knowledge of the Directive on Building Emergency and Evacuation Teams;
- Knowledge of Part XVII – Safe Occupancy of the Work Place, of the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

ASSET CRITERION
Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in Business Continuity Planning and/or Emergency Management.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be required to work overtime on short notice;
- Required to work onsite in the office and remotely;
- May be required to be on-call after-hours and carry a duty phone.
