This position is in a fast pace operational environment, working directly in the divisions of the RCMP engaging with employees, supervisors, occupational health personnel and other stakeholders to:
• Direct and record disability case management activities (e.g. early intervention, case management, return-to-work planning);
• Assess any barriers and implement strategies to a successful and timely return-to-work;
• Promote a better understanding of the Disability Management and Accommodation program within the division and/or detachment;
• Provide guidance and support to ill, injured or disabled members and their supervisors;
• Regularly monitor accommodation (due to disability) and return to work plans in the Division to ensure work-related needs are properly addressed.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB.
A qualified pool of candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. permanent or temporary) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Graduation with a degree in Social Sciences or Health Sciences from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the area of disability management.
- Recent and significant experience* in the management of files in at least two of the following programs within the public or private sector: health & safety, return-to-work program or disability management program
- Recent and significant experience* of the formulation of advice to managers (all levels) and employees on the application of laws and policies related to health & safety, return-to-work program or disability management program
- Experience in the preparation of presentation, briefing notes or reports to senior management
- Experience in accommodations management in the public or private sector
- Experience in managing complex disability management and or return to work cases
- Experience in liaising and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience conducting research, analysis and providing recommendations
- Experience in organizing, preparing and facilitating meetings
"Significant" experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately 2 years.
"Recent" experience is defined as experience associated with having performed this function in the past 5 years.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
Your responses to the screening questions will be used as the primary source in determining whether you meet the screening requirements. If you do not fully complete the screening questions as instructed, you may be screened out.

Candidates may be assessed using one or more of the following tools: standardized tests, written exam, interview, simulation exercise and reference checks.
All communication relating to this process, including email correspondence and telephone conversations, may be used in the assessment of qualifications.
Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.
Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain an RCMP security clearance may involve but is not limited to a security/reliability interview and a field investigation which includes matters of criminal activity, verification of credit/financial status, reference checks, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
