You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate with concrete examples, IN THE PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONS, how they meet the education and experience factors listed in the essential qualifications. Only screening questionnaire will be used during pre-screening process. We may use resumes as a secondary source to validate the answers to the pre-screening questions. Candidates who fail to provide sufficient information will be eliminated from further consideration.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some employees of Indigenous Services Canada are currently working remotely. The department is actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their usual workspaces. Therefore, this opportunity may initially be a remote working opportunity. When it is deemed safe to return to the workplace, the opportunity will be in an Indigenous Services Canada office located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
This process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates for similar positions with various tenures (term, indeterminate, acting appointment) within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative), various security requirements, various conditions of employment as well as various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.

EDUCATION :
Occupational certification: Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada.
AND
Education: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE :
• Experience managing the development, implementation or evaluation of health programs and/or services.
• Experience providing program related advice and recommendations to First Nations in Indigenous communities.
• Experience providing advice or recommendations to management on health issues.
• Experience in providing Home Care or Primary Care Nursing in one or more of the following areas:
o Wound management
o Chronic disease management
o Palliative care
• Recent* and significant** experience in establishing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with stakeholders (First Nation leadership, health directors, nurses, tribal councils, private enterprise(s), academic, government, RHA, etc.).
Recent* is defined as within the last five (5) years.
Significant** is defined as a minimum of two (2) years experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off-road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas, as required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

• Continuous professional registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba
• Willingness to complete education/training relevant to the position.
• Maintain current and ongoing certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain certification in other certification programs as deemed necessary by employer.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license.
