Intent of the process

An inventory of applications or a pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical and/or similar positions within DND with various locations, various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, security levels, employment types and tenures which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in Social Sciences, Health Sciences or a related field specific to the position being staffed; OR An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

*The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
**Recognized post-secondary institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Recent and significant experience* in providing proactive case management services for complex disability management situations.

Recent and significant experience* with disability claims or benefit management for physical and/or mental health.

NOTES:
“Recent*” experience is defined as experience associated with having performed this function within the past five (5) years.
“Significant*" experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties for a period of approximately 1.5 years.

NIDMAR or other professional certification or designation related to disability management, return to work coordination or education or training specific to best practices in disability management.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
Depending on the position being staffed, the qualification below may be deemed an essential requirement.

Experience with worker’s compensation (or other third party provider) claims, appeals or mediation or adjudication processes.

Experience in the accommodation process for permanent and temporary accommodations.

Experience working in compensation within the Federal Public Service.

Experience working or volunteering in a mixed civilian and military environment.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
