The Pacific Forestry Centre (PFC) is hiring an indeterminate position to join the Forest Programs Group.
PFC is an internationally recognized forest science laboratory. A vibrant group of researchers, foresters, technical and administrative staff work to maintain a creative and stimulating work environment. The Centre is located in Victoria, a coastal city on southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
The Forestry Development Officer will work in a team with colleagues at the PFC and other Canadian Forest Service centres across the country. The successful candidate will deliver a National Program - the Indigenous Forestry Initiative (IFI) - for the Pacific region (British Columbia and Yukon); prepare reports and recommendations related to forest management, programs or policy; and provide knowledge and support for other Pacific Forestry Centre forestry programs.
With your experience in Indigenous engagement, you will have the opportunity to travel to remote and rural communities; build partnerships with Indigenous organizations and governments; deliver the IFI program, administer Federal Contribution Agreements, and recommend best practices; and collaborate with a variety of organizations and agencies. You will use your knowledge of forestry to provide advice to clients and management, and support the work carried out at PFC.
