As an Airfield Maintenance Specialist in Churchill, Manitoba, you will work with your team to maintain the surfaces of the airfield in compliance with Transport Canada’s regulations. You will also conduct and daily field inspections, conduct AVOP (airside vehicle operator’s permit) enforcement, perform light routine building and equipment maintenance and assist with bird and wildlife control.

The position will work directly at the Transport Canada owned Churchill Airport in Churchill, Manitoba. This position will effectively contribution to the Airport’s daily operations and be part of a greater work unit at airport. The position will require the successful candidate to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
The immediate intent of this process is to fill 1 GL-MDO-06 position on a permanent basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment or acting opportunities) in Churchill, Manitoba within Transport Canada (TC).

ED: secondary school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent (GED) diploma
OC: Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, or equivalent.
EX1: Experience in heavy and light equipment operations (such as operating a loader, skidder, grader, mobile crane, hydraulic excavator, crawler tractor or industrial tractor).
AEX1 : Experience in performing routine building and facility maintenance.
AEX2 : Experience in winter snow removal operations.
AEX3 : Experience in performing runway field inspections.
AEX4 : Experience in applying anti-icing and de-icing chemicals to pavement surfaces.
AEX5 : Experience in bird and wildlife control methods, techniques and procedures.
AEX6 : Experience complying with Canadian Aviation regulations and airport safety management system.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a Radio Operator’s Restricted Certificate (Aeronautical) within 1 month of employment.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a Manitoba Class 3 beginner’s license with air brakes endorsements within 6 months of employment.
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) within 1 month of employment.
• Willingness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness and ability to travel for training and to offsite work locations may be required.

ASSESSMENT – RESCHEDULING

ISOLATED POST ALLOWANCE:
