On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

Duties

As the manager for the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (CCSF) in Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon, you and your team will :

✔ Provide financial support to build and renovate spaces for artists to create and present their works.
✔ Support art galleries, museums and archives in designing spaces to present their collections and share the diverse stories of those who live in their communities.
✔ Work with Indigenous communities to create cultural centres where traditional knowledge and cultural practices are celebrated and shared.
✔ Work with local arts organizations to undertake feasibility studies to help them achieve their dream of creating their community’s first artist-run space.
✔ Work with theatres and festivals to purchase state-of-the-art technology that will enhance the audience’s live and virtual performance experience and allow cultural creators to innovate and push the boundaries of their craft.

In addition, during this global pandemic, as CCSF manager, you will have a unique and rewarding opportunity to partner with not-for-profit organizations to support the safe reopening of cultural and heritage spaces as well as to support changes in how cultural and heritage organizations disseminate or present their work and collections.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff a Program Manger within the Western Region, on an indeterminate basis.

A list of partially or fully qualified candidates (anticipatory staffing) could be created and could be used to fill identical or similar positions with various language requirements and various tenures within the Department of Canadian Heritage in the Western Region.

♦ EDUCATION
- A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

♦ EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience in establishing partnerships or negotiating with public, private or not-for-profit organizations.
- Experience in presenting recommendations on complex** issues to senior level decision makers.
- Experience in the development or delivery of infrastructure projects.
- Experience in leading a team.

* “Significant” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience; the complexity and diversity of issues managed as well as the level of autonomy in decision-making will also be taken into consideration.
** “Complex” is defined as the interrelated factors that expose the organization to higher risks or may have policy implications.

- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

- Experience in administering a funding program.
- Experience in leading community engagement initiatives.

- Experience working with Indigenous communities.
- Experience working with racialized communities.

*** Managing large budgets is defined as managing an operations, program, or infrastructure budget of over $1 million.
