The role of the Salmonid Enhancement Program’s Resource Restoration Unit (RRU) is to support Departmental efforts in the management and conservation of fisheries, fish, and their habitats. Specifically, the RRU focuses on the remediation, enhancement, and restoration of degraded habitats and ecosystems that support salmon stocks. RRU’s role includes support to community-based restoration initiatives and stewardship, in addition to fish enhancement operations supporting stock conservation, rebuilding, and recovery efforts.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a biological science.
Experience with restoration or enhancement of salmonid habitat.
Experience working on field projects, assessments, or monitoring in fisheries, aquatic biology, or a related applied science.
Experience conducting quantitative analyses and interpreting data.
Experience using basic (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Chrome, Google Earth, Avenza) or advanced computer software (e.g. GIS Mapping, Database Management, Statistical Analysis).
Experience contributing to the writing of scientific papers or technical documents.
Experience working collaboratively with indigenous groups, other government agencies, non-government organizations, and/or industry representatives.
Graduation with a graduate degree (e.g. M.Sc. or Ph.D.) from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a biological science or related field.
Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the BC College of Applied Biologists as a Registered Professional Biologist, Registered Biology Technologist, or Applied Biology Technician.
Experience completing plans, permits, and/or supervision for restoration or construction works in and near water.
Experience providing, developing, or contributing to advice and recommendations.
Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion, including weekends.
Willingness and ability to travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. car, truck, boat, airplane, or helicopter).
Willingness and ability to participate in periods of strenuous physical work associated with field activities.
Reliability Status security clearance
Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
First Aid certification (minimum level 1 with CPR).
Health Canada Medical Clearance may be required.
