We’re looking for a digital communications expert to join our communications team and help chart the course for an engaging and informative social media presence.

Duties

You will be joining a dynamic team of dedicated, hard-working communicators who love their work.

You will work with PacifiCan staff, industry leaders, community groups and passionate entrepreneurs eager to tell their stories and promote their success.

And you will have an opportunity to use your expertise in social media to promote programs, services and assistance to business delivered by PacifiCan.

Please note: as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working remotely. If you are appointed to a position, PacifiCan will provide tools and/or equipment to support remote work. Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to staff one position on a temporary or permanent basis.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, work locations, language requirements and conditions of employment. The pool of qualified candidates may be shared with other federal government departments.

Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
✔️ Experience in writing a variety of digital communications materials, such as but not limited to social media posts and articles, web content, video scripts and infographics.
✔️ Experience in creating digital communication materials and content strategies.
✔️ Experience using social media scheduling software such as Hootsuite.
✔️ Experience in social media analysis and reporting.
✔️ Experience in building and maintaining relationships with external clients, partners and/or stakeholders.

Knowledge:
✔️ Knowledge of the Communications Policy of the Government of Canada.

Ability:
✔️ Ability to create digital communications materials and digital content strategies under tight timelines.
✔️ Ability to provide digital communications advice to management.
✔️ Ability to analyze social media content performance.

✔️ Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The following criteria are assets, so you do not need to meet them to be selected, but preference could be given to those who have them. You will be asked to provide information illustrating how you meet one or more of the criteria at a later date should management require the information.

Here are the assets we are looking for:
✔️ Experience in writing and editing traditional communications products such as news releases, backgrounders and speaking notes.
✔️ Experience in planning external media events, conferences and/or trade shows.
✔️ Experience in media relations and/or internal communications activities.
✔️ Experience using graphic design programs such as Canva and Adobe.

Organizational Needs:
✔️ In support of achieving a diversified workforce, consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to one of the following employment equity groups: Aboriginal peoples; persons with a disability; visible minorities; and women.

Operational Requirements:
✔️ Willing and able to travel.
✔️ Willing and able to work overtime, often on short notice, including occasional weekends.
