Your duties as a competition law officer may include:
• Conducting research and analysis on competition issues;
• Gathering information and evidence;
• Preparing input for other parts of government that are considering new regulations and laws;
• Assessing industry trends;
• Conducting online investigations;
• Conducting outreach to businesses and consumers;
• Supporting international efforts, including enforcement, policy and trade.

We may create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions. These positions have various language requirements (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, English Essential, or English or French Essential). They have various security requirements (Reliability or Secret). They also have various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment) within the Competition Bureau.

EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized university in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law, Public Administration, or Public Policy; or
Any other university degree combined with work experience relevant to the position in the fields of Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law, Public Administration, or Public Policy.
EXPERIENCE:
At least two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years conducting research projects and providing strategic advice;
At least two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in:
• competition law;
• corporate law;
• criminal law;
• regulatory law;
• commercial litigation;
• criminal or civil investigations;
• corporate/commercial sales;
• marketing;
• planning;
• product management;
• project management;
• business development/integration;
• public policy;
• government relations; or
• similar functions.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION:
• Eligibility for membership in the bar of any of the provinces or territories of Canada or in the Chamber of Notaries of Quebec.
• Master’s degree in a related field (Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law, Public Administration, or public policy).
• Successful completion of university-level courses in industrial organization, competition law or equivalent courses.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience with public speaking in a professional setting.
• Experience in building and maintaining stakeholder or client relationships.
• Conducting outreach.
Secret status security clearance.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, travel and flexible hours may be required.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
