Duties

Regional management of the ecosystem management includes 3 programs:
• the marine planning and conservation;
• the species at risk management;
• the fish and fish habitat protection.

The geomatics analysts develop spatial data management project planning, develop spatial reference databases, enter data, ensure disseminating and archiving, prepare for migration. The analyst may also produce charts and ensure updating, processing and analysis of geomatics data.

Work environment

Regional management of the Ecosystem Management of Fisheries and Oceans Canada has a mandate to ensure the conservation and protection of aquatic ecosystems, freshwater and marine, the Quebec region by the implementation of policies that flow from federal laws. We are located at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute in Mont-Joli, at the edge of the St. Lawrence estuary. EDUCATION
A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization** in geomatics, geography or all other disciplines relevant to the position.
***Or in the process of obtaining such a degree by summer 2022 – Will be required at the time of appointment.

* The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
** Courses for the specialization must be acceptable and have been taken from a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily as part of a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Experience using geographical information systems (GIS), including ArcGIS for the analysis, processing, presentation and security of geomatics data.
• Experience working with different IT environments and software*.

* Without limitation, here are some relevant examples: Access, Excel, MySQL, Oracle, FME, QGIS, CAREX, R, etc.

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in the conservation or monitoring of the environment, natural resources or species.
