Duties

The position is responsible for the application of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Work environment

Looking for a dynamic individual with interest in reviewing documents to support organization’s commitment to open government. In doing so, the incumbent will join a dedicated team committed to the effective and timely application of legislation and policy to better inform Canadians on functioning of its government.

Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff temporarily, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within the Correctional Service of Canada. EDUCATION

EEDU1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EEX1: Experience writing reports or briefing notes.
EEX2: Experience applying and interpreting provisions of legislation.
EEX3: Experience liaising and negotiating with other departments and stakeholders.
EEX4: Experience analyzing, researching and reviewing sensitive* information for the purpose of making recommendations.
EEX5: Experience providing advice or recommendations to management on complex** and sensitive* issues.

EXPERIENCE

AEX1: Experience interpreting, applying and administering the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.
AEX2: Experience handling and resolving complaints under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act with the Office of the Information Commissioner or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
AEX3: Experience in the presentation of Legal Positions in Public Hearings.
AEX4: Experience in preparing legal briefs or legal arguments.
AEX5: Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
AEX6: Experience supervising staff.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
