Duties

ABOUT THE JOB:
This position is responsible for the internal coordination of Indigenous engagement and consultation activities in the region. It is focused primarily on liaising between the region and headquarters, facilitating the exchange of information and supporting the coordination of activities between regional staff who engage with Indigenous Peoples in the course of delivering their programs, coordinating reporting on those activities, providing/facilitating training, and providing/disseminating resources, strategic advice and guidance related to Indigenous engagement and consultation. The position will also be responsible for internal and possibly external outreach activities/events.

At times, the position may be responsible for leading direct engagement and/or consultation. Some technical skills will be required in order to utilize a regional tracking system and website. This position may include responsibilities related to non-Indigenous engagement in the future.

Intent of the process

The anticipated number of position(s) that may be staffed with this advertised process is one (1); however, a pool of qualified candidates will be established through this staffing process and may be used to staff similar positions with different tenures (i.e. on a term, acting or an indeterminate basis) with the Policy and Economics unit in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Experience managing programs or projects and achieving results
Experience identifying client needs and providing support or solutions
Experience providing strategic advice to management****

*Significant means equivalent to 3 years full-time experience
**Recent means the experience was acquired within the past 6 years
***Complex means multifaceted, multi-dimensional and multi-client issues (applicants to describe the types of issues)
****Management means director or executive positions or equivalent

Degree equivalency

Experience leading reconciliation-related initiatives
Experience in the natural resources field
Experience coordinating training opportunities (i.e., finding appropriate training to meet identified needs and making the necessary arrangements to have that training provided)
Experience developing training programs (i.e., identifying training needs and building a training program to meet those needs)
