Real Property Operations Unit (West) Detachment Cold Lake (RP Ops Det Cold Lake) is made up of Construction Engineering trades and related subject matter experts headed up by the detachment Officer Commanding (OC). Our workforce consists of approximately 100 personnel, 97% of which are civilian with only three military serving in senior management positions. Our tradesperson (technician) workforce continues to be composed of Carpenters/Structural, Electrical Distribution, Plumbing and Heating, Electrical Generating Systems, Water Fuel & environment, Refrigeration & Mechanical, and Roads and Grounds. RP Ops Det Cold Lake also retains specialized departments include Properties, Requirements, Project Management, Planning, Contracts, and Supply.

Intent of the process

There Is an immediate need to staff one (1) permanent position in Cold Lake, Alberta.

A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at the same or equivalent group and levels with various tenures and security profiles across the Department of National Defence.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
EDU1:
Possession of a First Class (Standardized) Power Engineer Certificate OR
a Alberta First Class Power Engineer Certificate OR
a Second Class Power Engineer Certificate, and working on completion of 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate.

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience in controlling the operation and maintenance of high pressure steam plants and distribution systems.
EX2: Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications such Word, Excel and Outlook
EX3: Experience performing maintenance, testing and record keeping
EX4: Experience in the supervision of staff
EX5: Experience planning, directing and controlling the operation of a heating plant

ABILITY:
AB1: Ability to communicate effectively
