Role:
As an Internal Audit Principal you will provide Senior Management with independent assurance services on the effectiveness and efficiency of programs, policies and controls, as well as compliance with Government of Canada policy requirements, industry standards and laws and regulations. You and your colleagues will provide recommendations to enhance management frameworks, risk management, controls and governance processes.
What you will do:
• As an Internal Audit Principal, you manage the conduct of work related to professional practices in internal audit or evaluation, such as: Follow-up on implementation of audit and evaluation recommendations; planning audit and evaluation engagements; and/or Quality Assurance.
• You guide the development of audit and evaluation methodologies and techniques.
• You represent the Department at intra- and inter-departmental venues.
Currently, employees have not yet returned to their workplace due to the context of COVID-19. Therefore, the successful candidate may have to work remotely until further notice.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) bilingual imperative CBC/CBC position on an indeterminate basis.

EDUCATION
ED1 - Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics, or another specialty relevant to the position.
*Degree: Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
EXPERIENCE
EX1 - Significant* experience leading the conduct of work related to professional practices in an internal audit or evaluation function, such as: Follow-up on implementation of audit and evaluation recommendations; Evaluation Plan; Risk-Based Audit Plan; and/or Quality Assurance.
EX2 - Experience in preparing written material for senior management** such as reports, dashboards, presentations and briefing notes.
EX3 - Experience in providing strategic advice on audit or evaluation related matters to Senior Management**.
EX4 - Experience coaching or mentoring team members.
*Significant experience is defined as experience that would normally be acquired by a person in a position where the performance of these duties are a CORE function over a period of approximately three (3) years.
**Senior management is defined as Director General level (EX-03) and above or senior executives in private or public sector organizations external to the Federal Public Service.

EDUCATION
AED1 - Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics, or another specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
AEX1 - Experience with project management software (e.g. TeamMate).
