Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a fully qualified pool of candidates that will be used to staff one position on a permanent (indeterminate) basis. The results of this process may also be used to staff identical or similar positions of various tenues and various locations in Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology (or equivalent) from a recognized university.

Degree equivalency

A member in good standing (or eligible to be a member) with a professional association order or college such as the College of Psychologists of Ontario, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or equivalent.

You will be asked to bring with you a proof of current membership to a professional designation and/or association. If you are not a current member, you will be asked to bring documentation demonstrating that you meet the criteria to become a member of a specific professional designation and/or association. Therefore, please ensure that you possess the required documentation.

Recent* and significant** experience in providing Employee Assistance Services to clients (examples can include: crisis intervention, assessment, short-term counselling, referral and follow-up with individuals with a mental health problem, personal or work-related issues).

Experience in providing mental health, advice and guidance to key stakeholders (such as to Human Resources, Union Reps, Occupational Health & Safety and Disability Management Program (or Accessibility Program), etc.)

Experience in liaising with community based health care professionals on well-being issues.

Experience coordinating and facilitating well-being learning activities (examples can include: workshops, mental health promotion events, town halls, information sessions, team building).

*Recent is defined as experience acquired within the past five years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of five years’ experience associated with the performance of a broad range of complex duties.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience providing Employee Assistance Services to the Public Service or a Separate Agency as defined in the Public Service Employment Act.
