Although the Department expects to have most of their employees working from a Justice office within a regional or national headquarters building, teleworking from a different location or a hybrid approach may be possible depending on operational feasibility at the time of hiring.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates will be established from this process which may be used to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice with various tenures, linguistic requirements (English Essential, French Essential or bilingual imperative of various profiles), operational requirements and/or conditions of employment, which may vary according to the position to be staffed.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
LP-01 and LP-02
Eligibility for membership in the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or in the Chambre des notaires du Québec.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

English or French essential, Bilingual imperative, with linguistic profiles that may vary according to the position to be staffed.

EXPERIENCE
LP-01:
Experience providing legal services (i.e. working on legal or legal policy matters) as counsel, articling student, or law clerk to a judge.

LP-02:
Significant experience providing legal services as counsel.*
* Significant experience providing legal services as counsel is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties working on legal or legal policy matters as counsel over a period of approximately four (4) years.

KNOWLEDGE
LP-01:
Knowledge of recent and significant case law relevant to the position(s) to be staffed.

LP-02:
Knowledge of the principles regarding the interpretation of legal instruments.
Knowledge of at least two substantive areas of law.
