You’ll be part of a small Ottawa-based team responsible for managing translation requests, editing and proofing of final documents and ensuring quality of communications in both of Canada’s official languages. There is a wide range of materials and great variety in the work: everything from tweets to cabinet-level policy documents. This position requires great attention to detail.
We’re looking for a candidate who actively and independently maintains job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining professional networks. We’ll support you with up-to-date translation software and support for learning and training, as well as a welcoming and collegial atmosphere.
Full benefits available for this one-year term position. The team is working remotely with a gradual return to office in Ottawa planned over the coming months.

The intent of this process is to staff one position for a term of one-year in either Vancouver, BC OR Ottawa, ON. Applicants are invited to indicate their preferred work location in their cover letter.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used for various positions and tenures, including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual, as well as various locations, security requirements, language requirements and conditions of employment. Education:
• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree in translation or in a related field relevant to the position.
Experience:
• Experience in French translation of a variety of different products (i.e. communications products, minutes and agendas, HR bulletins, IT messages, ministerial correspondence, tweets).
• Experience in comparative revision of documents.
• Experience in quality control of written materials.

• Experience in coordinating translation requests with freelance translators or the Translation Bureau.
