Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position
NOTE: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
** You must have approximately two (2) years’ experience acquired over approximately the last five (5) years for all of the experience listed below:
**Experience in the interpretation and application of environmental laws, regulations, policies, standards, codes and best management practices.
**Experience in collection, research or analyzing data
**Experience in conducting and coordinating environmental reporting.
**Experience providing advice to support environmental decision-making
**Experience in one or two areas of expertise listed below:
• Environment Health
• Environmental Compliance
• Contaminated Sites & Environmental Emergencies
• Environmental Assessment
Experience using RETScreen

The successful candidate will be required to provide original documentation of proof of Canadian Citizenship prior to appointment. Other candidates may also be asked to provide this documentation at various stages in the selection process. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, assessments for this process will be administered virtually. This may include both an exam and interview.
The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, on-line activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc.
Iqaluit, Yellowknife and Whitehorse are classified as Isolated Posts. As such, the successful candidate must meet all the conditions under the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive prior to appointment. In addition, the successful candidate will be entitled to an Isolated Post Allowance. Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
