Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) leads the management of Canada’s fisheries and the safeguarding of Canadian waters. The Canadian Coast Guard, a Special Operating Agency within DFO, is responsible for services and programs that contribute to the safety, security, and accessibility of Canada’s waterways.
👋 The intent of our collective process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff various administrative assistant positions. Please note that our needs are exclusively to staff bilingual positions. These various positions are located in the National Capital Region (NCR).

✔ A secondary school diploma or equivalency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

✔ Experience in providing client services.
✔ Experience in using the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
✔ Experience in performing administrative services* in one (1) or more of the following: finance, human resources, procurement or other services.
*Administrative services are defined as, but not limited to: coordinating meetings; managing correspondence; data entry; drafting, editing, verifying and proofreading correspondence and/or reports, producing various reports for management and other related duties.

► HOW DOES THIS PROCESS WORK? ◄
➊ Application
You will need to answer the Screening Questions. You will need to demonstrate how you meet every criteria in the Essential Qualifications listed above in your online application. Do not forget to provide concrete examples of your work experience.
➋ Second Language Evaluations - Reading and Writing
If you do not have valid Second Language Evaluation results in Reading and Writing, you will be invited to complete the online assessment administered by the Public Service Commission. The online assessment is scheduled between September 24, 2021 to September 27, 2021. Thank you for making yourself available for this period.
➌ Take-home Written Exam
You will be invited to perform a written take-home exam.
➍ Interview
You will be invited to an interview conducted through videoconference.
➎ Pool establishment
If successful at all stages, you will be placed on the list of partially-qualified candidates and referred to hiring managers who may choose to do a reference check.
