The Plastic and Waste Management Directorate, in Environment and Climate Change Canada's Environmental Protection Branch, is responsible for developing federal policy measures for the waste sector to reduce environmental risks from toxic substances under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Positions at the ENG-03 level organize and manage data; provide technical and scientific advice and write reports.
IMMEDIATE NEED
The intent of this selection process is to staff two (2) positions in Gatineau, Québec on an indeterminate basis.
ANTICIPATORY
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various language requirements and linguistic profiles, security requirements and/or tenures within Environment and Climate Change Canada.

EDUCATION:
ED1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience* in gathering, analysing and presenting scientific or technical data,
EX2: Experience* writing scientific publications, technical reports or other documents on environmental issues.
EX3: Experience* in planning, designing or implementing projects which support the control, monitoring, prevention or mitigation of pollution or climate change
NOTE
* Experience means experience obtained by the candidate that is representative of the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years
ASSET EDUCATION
AED1: Master's degree from a recognized university in a speciality relevant to the duties of the position.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Experience in preparing terms of reference, reviewing proposals, or managing contracts.
AEX2: Experience coordinating work or supervising students, contract workers or other staff.
AEX3: Experience creating or maintaining databases or spreadsheets to manipulate large datasets.
AEX4: Experience in designing, developing, or administrating regulations or other instruments under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, or experience in complying with, reporting on or interpreting provincial or federal regulations.
AEX5: Experience in the resource recovery or waste management sectors.
