The immediate need is to staff the following:
▻ A Marine Structural Engineer position in one of the following locations: Halifax (Nova Scotia), Moncton (New Brunswick), Saint John (New Brunswick), Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island), Corner Brook (Newfoundland and Labrador), St. John's (Newfoundland and Labrador). This position will be English Essential.
AND
▻ A Coastal Engineer position in one of the following locations: Quebec City (Quebec), Rimouski (Quebec), Montreal (Quebec). This position will be French Essential or Bilingual Imperative (BBB/BBB)
In future, this process could be used to staff marine or coastal discipline engineers in any of the listed locations. You are encouraged to apply to be considered for future vacancies.
A pool of candidates will be created and used to staff similar positions within PSPC, with various language requirements, security profiles and tenures.

EDUCATION- Common to both disciplines
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
*A degree is defined as a baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by recognized educational authorities.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION - Common to both disciplines
Certification as a professional engineer in Canada.
AND / OR
Member of « l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec ».
EXPERIENCE
Coastal Engineer only:
*Significant experience in providing full engineering services for coastal projects such as analysis of coastal processes, design, preparing drawings, specifications, reports, site inspection, and/or condition assessments.
Experience in structural analysis and detailed design of coastal structures (such as rubble-mound breakwaters: conventional type, berm type, concrete units types; floating breakwaters; shore protection; etc.).
Experience in reviewing and providing advice on the work of other professionals relating to coastal studies, modeling, design, drawings, specifications, quality or issues.
Marine Structural Engineer only:
*Significant Experience in providing full engineering services for marine structural projects such as analysis, design, preparing drawings, specifications, reports, site inspection, and/or condition assessments.
Experience in structural analysis and detailed design of marine structures (such as wharfs made of cribwork, of sheet piles or of other types of retaining walls, wharfs on piles or made of caissons, floating structures, etc.)
Experience in reviewing and providing advice on the work of other professionals relating to condition assessments, analysis, design, drawings, specifications, quality or issues of marine structural projects.
* Significant experience is defined as experience normally acquired with having performed the related activities for a minimum of five (5) years.

Additional education or certification related to the discipline such as a Master's Degree, PHD or specialized courses.
ASSET EXPERIENCE - Common to both disciplines:
Experience in preparing detailed scopes of work and terms of references with the purpose of engaging Engineering Consultants.
Experience in coastal studies and modeling coastal processes (waves, current, sediment transport, wave load on rubble mound and marine structures, water levels, ice, impacts of climate changes, etc.) and application of these on structural design.
Coastal Engineer only:
Experience in structural analysis and design of marine structures (such as wharfs made of cribwork, of sheet piles or of other types of retaining walls, wharfs on piles or made of caissons, floating structures, etc.).
Marine Structural Engineer only:
Experience in structural analysis and detailed design of coastal structures such as rubble-mound breakwaters, floating breakwaters and/or shore protection works.
Experience in structural analysis and design for new construction or rehabilitation of other civil engineering projects such as bridges, dams and/or buildings.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion on short notice, including weekends.
Willingness to travel for short or long periods of time by car, boat, helicopter or airplane.
Willing and able to work on and around construction sites, wearing personal protective equipment.
Possession of a valid provincial driver's license or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license, within the limits of Treasury Board policy.
Security: Reliability Status security clearance or Secret security clearance, depending on the position being staffed.
