In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Essential Qualifications:

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience

and

Professional culinary arts diploma or acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
GS-FOS-05 - Recent experience working as a short order and/or large quantity cook in a commercial or institutional setting (* within the last 5 years)
GS-FOS-06 - Recent* and extensive experience working as a large quantity cook in an institutional or commercial setting (* 3 years in the last 5 years).

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of culinary methods and techniques including large quantity meal production.
Knowledge of workplace safety requirements, hygiene and sanitation practices.
Knowledge of safe lifting and carrying techniques.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualifications:

EDUCATION
Interprovincial Standards (Red Seal) Program certification - Cook.
Possession of a valid recognized Safe Food Handling Program certification.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures.
Experience working in a correctional environment (institutional or community office).
Experience in using different software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) in a work context.
Experience as a team leader responsible for a team of employees.
Experience using a foods services information management software.

Ability to interpret a recipe and suggest adjustments in terms of ingredient quantities and required portions - for GS-FOS-06 positions only

Information on employment equity

CSC is advertising FOS-05/06 processes for multiple locations. Should you have already been assessed for a FOS-05/06 position with CSC, you may be able to transfer your results to this process. Should you wish to be re-evaluated, you may do so after a waiting period of 90 days.

For appointment processes where the area of selection was limited to Aboriginal peoples or to members of designated employment equity groups that included Aboriginal peoples, the Aboriginal candidates proposed for appointment or appointed must complete and sign the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form as a condition of appointment prior to or at the same time as the offer of appointment, even if they have already self-declared as an EE member when applying.

A random and/or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
