Duties

• Assists Groundskeeper in various work orders and projects such as landscaping and installing sod
• Assists in Grounds maintenance services including cutting grass, raking, trimming trees, shovelling and snow removal
• Operation and maintenance of small riding equipment such as riding lawn mowers and garden tractors
• Operation of hand tools, such as shovels, rakes and hand saws
• Operation and maintenance of small motorized equipment such as push lawn mowers and weed whippers
• Provides physical labour at the Grounds maintenance sites
• Patching asphalt and repairing gravel roads and parking lots

Intent of the process

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

This process will be used to staff an indeterminate full time position.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Experience in the operation of a skid steer

Experience in the operation of a tractor

Experience operating small equipment

Experience in the operation of a front end loader

Experience tending to a lawn, flower bed or garden in the outdoors or in a greenhouse

Experience working with basic computer applications such as Internet or email or word processing software

Experience of the operation and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment

Successful completion of a training program that includes all of the elements set out in Table 14.1 of O-1.1 Reg 1 Occupational Health and Safety, 1996

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Landscape offered by SIAST and hold a valid pesticide applicator licence issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Greenhouse offered by SIAST and hold a valid pesticide applicator licence issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act

Experience in the operation of a road grader

Experience in greenhouse operations

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s Licence equivalent to a Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s Licence equivalent to a Saskatchewan Class 3 Driver’s Licence with “A” Endorsement within two years from date of appointment

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Landscape offered by SIAST and hold a valid pesticide applicator licence issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act within two years from date of appointment

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Greenhouse offered by SIAST and hold a valid pesticide applicator licence issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act within two years from date of appointment
