Duties

The Surveyor General Branch (SGB) is the Government of Canada Centre of expertise for land surveying, geodesy and the international boundary between Canada and the United States.

As a subject matter expert, the Land Surveyor Manager, Alberta Regional Office, is responsible to manage multiple projects for the provision of services in geomatics, cadastral, geodetic and photogrammetric mapping and surveys on Canada Lands; provide senior level expert survey services advice to clients and to the Division and Surveyor General Branch (SGB) management; manage the human and financial resources of the unit within the mandate of SGB, providing services as the central geomatics service provider that support such activities and responsibilities as day-today management and administration of the property rights systems on Canada Lands.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Occupational Certification:
► A Canada Lands Surveyor's commission and licence to practice issued by the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors OR a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in any province in Canada.

Note: If this condition is met by having a licence or authority to practice as a land surveyor in a province, then the successful candidate must obtain a Canada Lands Surveyor's commission AND licence to practice within 2 years of appointment to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
► A minimum of five years of experience providing boundary or cadastral advice as a licensed surveyor.
► Managing human and financial resources.

Education:
► Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in land survey theory and practice.

Degree equivalency

Operational Requirements:
► Willing and able to work overtime as required.
► Willing and able to adopt flexible work hours according to operational requirements.
► Willing and able to travel and do field work.
► Medical assessment for fieldwork, approved by Health Canada. This factor is not used at the screening stage. The hiring department is responsible for the medical assessment process.
► Valid driver's license in Canada.
