Duties

As an intermediate finance officer, you may report to a senior manager in the areas of Business Risk Management (BRM) Program Funding, BRM Administrative Funding, Internal Controls, AgriInsurance Finance, Corporate Finance and Audit Coordination.

Main responsibilities of this position may include undertaking projects individually or as a team, member; researching and analysing financial and operational data to generate short-term financial reports or contribute to development of multi-year financial planning and accountability reports; providing interpretations and guidance to clients on financial policies, guidelines and practices; liaising with internal and/or external stakeholders to exchange information and/or analyse options on service delivery; drafting proposals and presenting to management; handling various elements of the management accountability and control framework including providing advice and guidance to managers; conducting reviews of internal operational policies, systems and processes to ensure compliance.

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization* in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group.

OR

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) professional accounting designation.

*Specialization is defined as a minimum of six (6) courses within one of these areas: accounting; finance; business administration; commerce or economics.

EXPERIENCE
Significant** experience in finance in at least one (1) of the following areas:
- Costing;
- Financial Planning and Resource Management;
- Financial Systems Development, Implementation or Maintenance;
- Accounting Operations;
- Financial Reporting;
- Auditing;
- Internal Controls; or
- Grants and Contributions.

** Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience acquired in performing a broad range of activities over a cumulative period of 2 years or more.

EXPERIENCE
Significant** experience in finance in the following areas :
- Managing a costing process and developing costing and charging models or allocation
methodologies;
- Financial transaction verification and audit;
- Supervising staff including providing direction;
- Working with SAP or Cognos;
- Review of contribution agreements, associated payment claims and in the interpretation of
program terms and conditions;
- Administering time collection systems;
- Public sector cost sharing agreements.

** Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience acquired in performing a broad range of activities over a cumulative period of 2 years or more.
