Created in 1958, the Polar Continental Shelf Program (PCSP) is an organization within NRCan that provides logistical support to over 1100 Canadian Arctic researchers annually. The overall mission of the PCSP is to provide safe, efficient and cost-effective logistical support to researchers from Canadian government agencies, northern communities, and independent and university groups conducting scientific activities in isolated areas throughout the Canadian Arctic.
The PCSP headquarters is located in Ottawa, however, the incumbent will be required to travel on a regular basis to various high Arctic locations (such as the Polar Continental Shelf Program’s facility in Resolute, Nunavut) for several cycles of approximately 6 weeks each during the field season. When working in the Arctic, at the PCSP facility, the incumbent will be working 7 days per week, 10 hours per day, accumulating overtime hours to cover time off. All travel costs from the incumbent’s home to the Arctic will be arranged and covered by PCSP.
