Important messages

The Environmental Protection Branch of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) implements legislation, regulations and other policies and programs that protect Canadians and their environment and address climate change, while supporting responsible resource development. Within the Branch, the Carbon Markets Bureau serves as a focal point for implementing innovative strategies to reduce GHG emissions, and providing technical and science-based policy advice to decision-makers.

What does the Life Cycle Analysis Work Unit offer?

Successful candidates will join a multi-disciplinary team of engineering and science professionals to support the development and implementation of the Clean Fuel Standard, in active consultation with industry partners. The work includes developing and implementing the regulatory requirements related to the carbon intensity values obtained from the Fuel Lifecycle Analysis (LCA) Model for low carbon fuel crediting, such as the review of carbon intensity value applications for technical soundness for use in low carbon credit creation, and developing operational processes relating to carbon intensity value applications. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to collaborate multi-laterally with international bodies, private sector industry leaders, industry organizations, and provincial, territorial and indigenous stakeholders to understand and propose resolutions to issues and concerns raised.
