This process consists of 2 streams:
• Stream 1: Policy Advisor (EC-05)
• Stream 2: Senior Policy Analyst (EC-06)
You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be placed into the pool, and the asset qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
In preparing your application, take the time to demonstrate how you meet all of the essential education and experience qualifications as well any of the asset education and experience that you meet. Provide as much detail and examples as possible. Be specific about initiatives you have worked on; where (occupational title, organization)? When (from, to)? What was your role? What were the tasks involved, actions taken? Clear and concrete examples are defined as descriptions in which you explain in detail the considerations you had, the actions and steps you undertook as well as the final outcome/results, in order to gain the experience you are describing. Our analysts:
• gather intelligence;

• represent our department and our region on working groups, committees and in work with our partners.
*West and North Region includes British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Regional Director General’s Office is looking for talented individuals with expertise in research, analysis, policy development and intergovernmental relations to work on important issues affecting the environment. We are looking for team members who:

The intent of this process is to staff a one-year term EC-06 in Vancouver, an indeterminate EC-05 in Vancouver, and an indeterminate EC-06 position in Whitehorse.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions of varying tenure, various language requirements and profiles, and security requirements within Environment and Climate Change Canada in West and North Region.

Both Streams:
EDU1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Note: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Both Streams:
EX1: Significant* experience analyzing and synthesizing information from multiple sources on issues or policies to inform strategic decision-making.
EX2: Experience working on multidisciplinary teams with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
EX3: Significant* experience in developing and providing strategic advice and making recommendations.
*Significant is defined as experience normally acquired through performance of the duties for a period of 2 years or more.
Stream 1 (EC-05) only:
EX4: Experience working with various external partners (e.g., various levels of government, other sectors, academia, and non-government organizations).
Stream 2 (EC-06) only:
EX5: Experience planning and conceptualizing research, program, or policy initiatives.
EX6: Experience consulting and/or collaborating with different organizations or sectors (government, non-governmental organizations, business, and academia) which may have different priorities or interests.

AEDU1: Post graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
Both Streams:
AE1: Experience working with Indigenous governments, organizations or communities.
AE2: Experience leading initiatives, projects or programs with multifaceted issues with many interconnected impacts.
AE3: Experience working on Treasury Board submissions and/or memoranda to cabinet.
AE4: Experience working with water-related programs, initiatives, or policies.
AE5: Experience consulting or collaborating with various levels of government, including Federal, Provincial or Territorial, Municipal and Indigenous governments.
Stream 2 (EC-06):
AE6: Supervisory experience
Organizational Needs:
