• Providing advice to senior management and/or the Minister’s Office to mitigate risk and realize opportunities for the department and the Minister in a manner that supports and appropriately influences policy and program direction.
• Coordinating internally, interdepartmentally, and with other levels of government at the provincial/territorial and/or municipal level, to ensure strategic alignment and promotion of Transport Canada priorities with broader Government of Canada priorities.
• Developing communications strategies and resulting products by reframing and refocusing issues so that there is a public awareness and positive perception of Transport Canada and its programs.

The immediate need is to fill an indeterminate IS-05 position.
A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established and could be used to fill similar temporary and permanent positions within Transport Canada.

Your résumé.
Education:
Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in communications, public administration, public relations, marketing, journalism or another discipline relevant to the position or a combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position.
Experience:
- Significant experience* in providing strategic communications advice to senior management or the Minister’s office.
- Experience in developing strategic communications plans AND other communication products such as fact sheets, news releases, brochures, etc.
- Significant experience* in managing high profile media issues and sensitive communications files.
- Experience in planning and managing ministerial, interdepartmental or public events.
*Significant experience will be assessed with the amount, complexity and diversity of work handled, and level of autonomy demonstrated. Candidates have to provide clear and specific examples in their application.
