NOTE: During the COVID pandemic, physicians at the Health Products and Food Branch, as with the majority of Federal Public Servants, are working from home. Given the nature of the work, and once the pandemic has resolved, there will be more flexibility in work arrangements, however it is expected that some level of presence at work may still be required.

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

• Come and explore another facet of medicine at Health Canada!

Working at Health Canada offers physicians a unique opportunity to contribute to the evaluation and the monitoring of the safety, quality and efficacy of health products (including drugs, medical devices, biologic and genetic therapies, and natural health products) in an intellectually stimulating environment, where principles of pharmacology, public health, epidemiology, and clinical aspects among others have to be taken into consideration and integrated into regulatory decision making.

• Why should you consider Health Canada as your next career stepping stone?

As one of the largest employers in the country, Health Canada provides its employees with an exceptional workplace, opportunities for professional development, access to continued learning throughout their careers and flexible work schedules. We have been selected from hundreds of organizations across Canada to receive the award for Top National Capital Region Employer, Top Employer for Young People, as well as Top Diversity Employer for 2021. As a result, you will have the opportunity to work with engaged individuals. You will also enjoy benefits (dental and health care) for you and your family, an appealing pension plan and access to our Family and Employee Assistance Program.

The positions to be staffed from this process are located in the National Capital Region (Ottawa, ON). The city has an abundance of parks and waterways for you and your family to explore. In addition to its own greenspaces, Ottawa sits a short 20 minute drive to the Gatineau Park offering biking, golfing, hiking, and skiing. If you like to eat out, Ottawa has everything from the most amazing food trucks to fine dining options prepared by award winning chefs. Should you wish to be entertained, take in an event at the National Art Centre or perhaps one of the many summer music festivals.

The workplace locations can be easily accessed by public transportation and/or recreational trails ideal for cycling or jogging alongside the Ottawa River. In addition to the accessibility, fitness centers can be accessed by Health Canada employees (for a fee).

We look forward to having you join our team where you will be encouraged to share your thoughts and innovative ideas and witness the positive impact your contribution will have to the health of Canadians.
