Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is looking for regulated health professionals to support on-reserve COVID-19 needs.

We are looking for: Nurses/ Doctors/ Nurse Practitioners/ Registered Psychiatric Nurses/Registered Practical Nurses/ Licensed Practical Nurses/ Pharmacists/ Paramedics/ Dentists/ Veterinarians/ Medical Laboratory Technicians/ other health professionals who are licensed to practice, including to administer COVID-19 vaccinations, in the following areas:

• Alberta
• Saskatchewan
• Manitoba
• Ontario
• Nova Scotia
• New Brunswick
• Prince Edward Island
• Newfoundland and Labrador
• Quebec


You may be contacted to work in additional locations in Canada based on emerging needs.

Travel, including overnight travel for multiple days, to remote/isolated or rural communities may be required. Transportation and accommodation will be organized and paid for by ISC.

Intent of the process

To create an inventory in order to staff healthcare workers for COVID-19 support on a casual or casual as and when basis positions for up to 90 working days within a calendar year. Those 90 days may or may not be concurrent, but would be for a minimum of 7-14 days at a time depending on need.

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. There may be the possibility if certain positions become available that applicants who meet the qualifications may be considered for term or indeterminate opportunities. Staffing needs will be constantly re-evaluated and needs will be met using the inventory.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Occupational Certification

Training and regulated scope to immunize in your jurisdiction of practice.
Current CPR certification.

Experience

STREAM 1- COVID-19 Immunizer

Experience in vaccination clinics or providing public health immunizations.

STREAM 2 - Case Management

Experience in contact tracing
Experience in nasopharyngal and/or throat swabbing

STREAM 3 - Outbreak Support

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

i. Primary Care
ii. Urgent or Emergency Care
iii. Acute or Intensive Care

Experience

Experience working with Indigenous patients and/or communities.
Experience working in remote and/or isolated areas

Conditions of employment

Reliability Security Clearance
Proof of current licensure with a Canadian health professional licensing body.
Current CPR Certification
Depending on the work location,
Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas
Willingness and ability to work in a rigorous, diverse and often demanding work environment
May be required to be temporarily reassigned to other communities as operationally required
Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required
Medical clearance may be required (if working out of a remote/isolated post)
