Primary purpose of the position:
Professional intergovernmental conference management services, advice, information and recommendations to First Ministers’ and Premiers’ conferences as well as for Federal-Provincial-Territorial and Provincial-Territorial conferences of Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
Provision of expert advice to management on program performance, the development of new approaches and improvements to service delivery, operational requirements and the impact of political issues on the delivery of services.
Management, planning and coordination in the specific area of administrative support or procurement and technical services or Divisional planning and training. Provision of leadership for the implementation of CICS strategic priorities and policies.
CICS is an impartial agency whose mandate is to provide administrative support and planning services for Federal-Provincial-Territorial and Provincial-Territorial conferences of First Ministers, Ministers and Deputy Ministers, throughout Canada. We thrive on helping governments by delivering impartial and professional conference services, with innovative solutions.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with various language requirements, security profiles and tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, secondment or assignment).

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
E1: Experience in planning and coordinating senior level intergovernmental conferences or meetings that include significant* government participation.
E2 : Experience in leading project teams.
E3 : Recent** and significant*** experience in the supervision of personnel including assigning work, managing and assessing performance.
E4 : Recent** experience managing a budget, including responsibility for financial planning, forecasting and reporting.
E5 : Experience in providing strategic advice and briefings to senior officials****.
E6 : Experience working in the area of intergovernmental relations, liaising with senior officials **** from federal and provincial or territorial governments.
* Significant government participation is defined as being more than one government and at the level of Deputy Minister, Minister or First Minister.
**Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last three (3) years.
***Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience generally acquired in the full-time performance of duties for a minimum of a three (3) year period.
****Senior officials are defined as being at the level of Director General (or equivalent) or higher.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
AE1 : Experience in coordinating technical logistics for events such as videoconferences or press conferences.
AE2 : Experience in developing policies and procedures in support of internal operations and customer service delivery.
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to travel extensively and on a short notice and regular basis across Canada to conference sites, including weekends.

Performance evaluations will be taken into consideration. Accordingly, you will be required to submit copies of your last two (2) performance evaluations as part of this selection process.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered first for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the advertised appointment process.
An assignment/secondment or an acting appointment is a temporary resourcing option. The approval of your substantive supervisor may/will be required before an offer can be made.
